Information You Send
Search Terms
A name, place, or other query entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Mercer County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those query terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Requests
An email or other message sent to the service is kept as needed to read it, respond, and keep a basic record of the exchange. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal demand.
Technical Details From a Visit
Routine server and analytics tools may record limited technical information when a page loads. The categories can include:
- IP address or a related network identifier.
- Browser name, type, and version.
- Device category and operating system.
- Pages viewed and the time spent on each page.
- The referring website, when one is supplied.
- Visit and request timestamps.
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies may help measure how visitors use the pages and keep certain features working. Browser settings can block or delete them. A blocked cookie may cause a feature to work in a limited way.
Why the Information Is Used
The information described above supports basic operation, measurement, and service delivery. It may be used to:
- Keep the pages available, stable, and reasonably fast.
- Send a search request to the partner service selected for that tool.
- Learn which information and page paths are useful to visitors.
- Find errors, abuse, and technical problems.
- Show advertising that may be relevant to a visitor’s interests.
Links to Other Services
Mercer County Busted Mugshots links to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and jail, city police pages, Mercer Judici, the Illinois Department of Corrections, federal locators, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor leaves these pages, the destination’s privacy policy and data practices apply. Those organizations control their own systems, records, and availability.
Some advertising partners can measure activity across different websites to deliver interest-based ads. That tracking occurs on the partner’s systems, not under the control of the county reference pages.
Who May Receive Information
Personal information is not sold by Mercer County Busted Mugshots. It may be available to the following parties when needed for the purposes above or required by law:
- Search partners that process a query submitted through their tool.
- Analytics providers that measure visits and page performance.
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads.
- Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order or other lawful demand.
Security Limits
Reasonable standard security practices are used for information handled directly by the service. No internet-connected system is fully secure, however, so Mercer County Busted Mugshots cannot promise that a transmission or stored message will be immune from every breach, failure, or unauthorized event.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal data, a parent or guardian may use the Contact Us route to ask that it be deleted.
Choices About Your Data
A visitor may ask about personal information handled directly by the service. Available requests include:
- Ask for a copy of personal information held directly by the service.
- Ask that an inaccurate item be corrected.
- Ask for deletion where the service has a basis to remove it.
- Ask to opt out of certain processing, subject to technical or legal limits.
Requests can be sent through Contact Us. A request about a search partner, sheriff record, court file, or corrections profile must be made to that provider or government custodian as well.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be revised when the service, its tools, or its data practices change. An updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised practices apply from that posting forward.
